The Underachiever | Excerpt
Starting as an email to friends accounting for the lack of sanity prevailing in my own life at the time, I was quickly clobbered by the muse as the tale of 'The Underachiever' began to unfold in my hands. The result is a romantic tale of epic proportions that takes the reader on a romantic and seemingly fateful adventure fast on the heels of a tragic romantic and his dire need to capture his newfound love by her own undoing.
Caught in a hurricane of heartbeats, Jooles Mueller (AKA 'The Underachiever') takes on what he hopes to be the first achievement of his life as he desparately tries to break free of the underachiever mentality and capture Nymphet, a blond bombshell of mythic proportions, who shattered his ideals of love and life and breath with just one night of bliss. With no idea of the depth of self-abuse he is about to embark upon only hours after meeting her, Jooles promptly drops his job, his belongings and his life as it were and whisks himself away in musical rapture swiftly towards her, desparately attempting to bring his personal memoir of this reckless journey up to date while the tale unfolds all around him at an alarming and ever increasing rate. From the desolate drab walls of Cubeland, Silicon Valley, to the sunny shores of San Diego Jooles races to be with his new love, only to find patience and nature the only true cure for her sheepish pragmatism. But after finally breaking down her constitution and convincing her to take the wild plunge into the deep unkown, Jooles and Nymphet embark upon their fateful trip to Paris, France together, and thence begins both their undoing.
It's an unbelieveable roller-coaster rocket ride through the center of the heart, and back. Full of absurd humor, this story will have you laughing in ridiculous circles, and crying in tormentuous stitches.
Will Jooles' tireless self-torment keep him from completing his fateful quest? And what exactly is his quest anymore? To capture Nymphet, that seductive siren who has stolen his heart and hidden it in her wide waters? To see The Eternal City, Rome and ask the Pope forgiveness for his sins? To be?? And will he be able to show Nymphet that her happiness is as simple as surrender? Or will she drive him utterly insane before he has a chance? Before anyone has a chance??
Be sure to check back in soon. A search has begun for an agent.
It's only a matter of time now before 'The Underachiever' is brought to a bookstore near you!
